Description:

Our name, A.P. Roots, has a bit of a background. This building has housed many different businesses throughout the years, but it all began with one local grocery store, F. Dee Roots.

It was a small, family owned grocery store that serviced and provided for many of our surrounding neighbors. Borrowing the name "Roots" seemed like the right thing to do when coming up with our name. This being for several reasons; first is that obviously our restaurant has roots in this neighborhood, and second, most of our food comes from the very roots of Lexington and surrounding Kentucky areas.

The ability to serve seasonal, local foods means that we are able to deliver you food that is grown in ideal conditions, picked at its peak of ripeness, along with meats, cheeses, produce and grains that are raised and produced without the use of harmful hormones and pesticides.

As our own Chef Robert Myers says, "The star of any restaurant is not the cook in the kitchen, but the farmer in the field."
